The R4 is a French automobile icon, a sturdy thing that keeps on going. That’s why they still run about a lot on the French countryside.
But the French didn’t keep all this for themselves, they were sold and made all over the world. Also in Slovenia. This car was build there, at the end of the ‘90s. At January 7th ’91 it was registered in Serbia, somewhere around the city of Nis.
It drove around for almost 25 years, but didn’t add a lot of kilometers. In ’14 it was purchased by a local enthusiast, who planned to use it daily. Because of some scratches, he had it (properly) repainted. LPG is cheap in Serbia as well, so he had a LPG-installation fitted…
Some time ago a friend of ours from Belgrade found the car and bought it for us. On the seats you can see someone has been getting in and out of it, but it’s just a slight wear. More of a prove the car has been enjoyed. Apart from that the car looks really new from top till bottom.
So just act as if you enter a ‘90s Renault-showroom to buy a new Renault 4. We will play the (moustached) salesman, asking you how much you’d like to enjoy the car.“ Well, a lot of course!” is your response. “Shouldn’t you consider driving on LPG then? It’s already profitable from 6000km on and I was told it is environment-friendly as well”, we say… The rest will become history and you’ll live together happily ever after.
