At least you can see it lived! Spectators usually have very diverse opinions: “Wow, cool, you should leave it like this!”, “When are you going to restore it?”, and everything in between. A drive in this car elicits both contempt and appreciation around you. In any case, we like it a lot!

That’s why Sander bought it from a friend of his: to drive it around himself. This friend bought the car in ’95 and used it on a daily basis, hence some visible dents and damaged paint. Very often, the car has been treated with Owatrol or RX5, so that the rusting process couldn’t go all the way.

At the time, there was some doubt about its history: the car was obviously French whereas the plates were Dutch. After a look at the chassis number, RDW confirmed that it was original, so a well conserved French carrosserie and dito Dutch chassis most likely married once.  After years of unwinding with its original 12hp-technique, it was decided to update the car a few years ago. A 602cc engine from an Ami 6 was chosen, together with fitting gearbox and bigger drum brakes. Now, you have a softer 25hp engine that can get you to 100km/h with more ease, one that is also easier to start and load with its 12V installation. This setup is not aiming at speeding on the highway, but rather at comfortably cruising down local roads. You almost never have to use the brake: to stop accelerating and to put it a gear back often slows you down enough. This combined with a smooth suspension, with batteurs and fritters all around, plus the hammock-like seats, make for an ultimately smooth experience driving this car. A real pleasure! To make it even more obvious to the outside world: the indicators are like they were produced in the Netherlands at the time. All in all, this car has become closer and closer to the much adored AZAM6…!

The engine recently got new cylinders and pistons and the brakes have also been overhauled. If you’d rather never do any maintenance on your car, can’t live with the smell of grease and gasoline, or don’t like to treat a car with some preservative, then this car is not for you, instead have a look at our other, more modern 2CVs. If you like to drive a 2CV the hardcore way, then this is your ride. Due to lack of time and too many cars, this car should now bring fun to another owner.
